Hurstwood Holdings Launches Self-Storage Brand With First Facility Slated for Wigan, England

Hurstwood Holdings, a Manchester, England-based real estate development and investment firm, has launched a self-storage platform. The company intends to create a national Hurstwood Self Storage portfolio, beginning with the conversion of a former night club in Wigan, England. Future locations have been identified in Dumfries, Lancaster and North Shields, England, according to a source.

“The self-storage sector is one that continues to benefit from strong growth, with demand consistently far outstripping supply; and by entering this area of the market, we will add a new layer of value to our already extensive real estate portfolio,” said Stephen Ashworth, chairman and CEO.

The Wigan project will include 17,750 square feet of self-storage on the bottom three floors of the six-story Bryan House building on Standishgate. The facility is expected to be complete by year-end. Hurstwood is also negotiating to transform the top three floors of the structure into 45 one-bedroom apartments, a source reported.

Hurstwood Holdings has interests in commercial and residential properties, with 135 sites across the United Kingdom.
