Cinch Self Storage Plans UK Portfolio Expansion, Opens Facility in Newbury, England

Cinch Self Storage, which operates 12 facilities in England, has doubled its leasable space in the last 12 months and has five projects underway that it expects to open this year. These are in Brentwood, Watford and Wimbledon, England, with further U.K. expansion expected, according to a press release.

Recent developments have added more than 200,000 rentable square feet to the Cinch portfolio, including a 51,000-square-foot project in Newbury, England, which was converted from the former headquarters of the “Newbury Weekly News.” The site includes 500 storage units, a dedicated business center, and some larger units that are being marketed as suitable for retail showrooms, stock rooms and workshops.

“It’s an exciting time for Cinch Storage, as we continue to expand our reach, taking our comprehensive storage solutions to more businesses and communities across the U.K.,” said co-founder Richard Owen. “We are proud to be a part of the Newbury community, an area which has been underserved in terms of storage options, and [we] look forward to supporting local businesses and families with our full suite of solutions.”

Launched in 2018 by Owen and Joshua Nimmo, the Cinch portfolio operates primarily in Southeast England and comprises more than 650,000 square feet of rentable self-storage space.
