Update 8/23/22 – Store Space has also hired Stephen Harris as president of construction and Shimon Kanter as vice president of development.

Harris, who joined the company in May, has more than 25 years of construction and development experience, having built more than 14 million square feet of hospitality, mixed-use, office, residential and retail space in his career, according to a press release. He was most recently vice president of development for Columbus, Ohio-based Washington Prime Group Inc.

“It’s great to welcome Stephen into the Store Space family,” said Rob Consalvo, president and chief operating officer. “Having someone with his extensive background and past history of success to head our construction division will prove invaluable as we continue to scale our development pipeline.”

“This is a very dynamic company, with opportunities for growth and expansion on the immediate horizon,” Harris said. “I’m really excited to be here.”

Kanter has experience in the acquisition and development of commercial real estate including self-storage, multi-family and industrial properties. As vice president, he’ll oversee zoning, entitlement, land development, site selection and design for the company’s self-storage developments, according to a press release. Prior to joining Store Space, Kanter was vice president of acquisitions and development for Baltimore-based Poverni Sheik Group.

“I am excited to come to Store Space and continue to fulfill the company's potential,” Kanter said. “The family-like feeling and the open-door policy were very attractive to me about the company.”

Store Space also recently promoted Scott Claflin to senior director of capital expenditure.

8/17/22 – Store Space, a self-storage facility operator and third-party management company, hired J. Scott Masterson as vice president of construction. For 25 years, Masterson has managed construction projects for clients such as Darden Restaurants, Hard Rock International, Hyatt Hotels Corp., Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Ruby Tuesday, according to a press release. He’ll be responsible for assisting Store Space in its goals to remodel existing properties and build new ones.

“We're excited about Scott's diversity of talent and executive construction-management experience,” said Stephen Harris, president of construction for Store Space. “He has worked on a wide spectrum of challenging projects throughout his career, which benefitted from his decades-long experience. His comprehensive skill set in all levels of construction is invaluable to Store Space, bringing best practices to our organization for our go-forward strategy.”

“Joining Store Space presents a great opportunity to start a new construction team within a high-velocity industry,” said Masterston, who’s also a U.S. Navy Veteran. “Moving forward, I will be working to make on-time and underbudget developments a consistent and expected result.”

Based in Winter Garden, Florida, Store Space owns or operates more than 100 properties in 20 states.
