Self-Storage Operator Manhattan Mini Storage Partners With Rock the Vote to Amplify 2024 Voter Registration
May 2, 2024
Manhattan Mini Storage (MMS), which operates 20 self-storage facilities in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, New York, is partnering with Rock the Vote, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young people to vote in U.S. elections. Through this collaboration, the companies aim to raise awareness about voter registration and education, according to a press release.
MMS will post QR and text codes at its locations that direct customers to Rock the Vote's online-registration platform. There they can register to vote for the first time or update their existing registration, for example, if they moved or changed their name. Users will also be able to check their registration status to confirm whether it’s active and current.
Both MMS and Rock the Vote will leverage their social media platforms to share important election dates and reminders, the release stated.
“In an important election year, we wanted to use our platforms to encourage others to share their voice through the power of the democratic process because every vote matters, and there is space for all in the voting booth,” said Sarah Little, senior vice president of marketing for MMS.
“We're thrilled to be partnering with Manhattan Mini Storage during this important time and on this critical effort of ensuring everyone has access to the resources and information they need to register and cast a ballot this election year,” added Chris Palumbo, director of corporate partnerships for Rock the Vote. “Providing New Yorkers and visitors with the trusted tools they need to help them navigate the voting process also means giving them the power to help make a difference in their very own communities.”
MMS was founded in 1978 as a family-owned business. It was acquired in 2021 by StorageMart, which operates more than 250 self-storage properties across Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Founded in 1999 and based in Columbia, Missouri, StorageMart has a portfolio of more than 24 million square feet.
Since its founding in 1990 by music executives, Rock the Vote has processed more than 14 million voter registrations.
