Accountant Converts Outbuilding to Sunny Self-Storage in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England

Karl Watts, owner of Sunny Accountancy Services Ltd., recently converted an outbuilding on the property of his new home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England, to a self-storage facility. Watts, 41, said he was inspired to build Sunny Self Storage after a former client opened a similar project.

“I knew there was a need for more self-storage facilities in the area and, rather than blight the landscape with more of those large warehouse-type buildings that are cropping up everywhere, why not use the building we already have? We would only have filled it with junk if we had kept it for personal use,” Watts told a source.

The property at 203 Huthwaite Road offers 23 units ranging in size from 10 to 75 square feet. Tenants have their own lock and key and can access their unit any time of day, Monday to Friday, the source reported.

The Watts’ home was formerly a co-op before being converted into a residence by the former owners. The outbuilding had been previously used as a garage.

Watts launched Sunny Accountancy Services in 2012. Its services include bookkeeping, business valuations and acquisitions, business taxes, exit-strategy plans, start-ups, and more.
