A 23-year-old, female manager at a Public Storage location in Bloomington, MN, was threatened at gunpoint on Oct. 10 when she conducted a routine property walk-through in the early afternoon. The offending party was a 32-year-old man and one of the self-storage facility’s tenants. He was arrested for the incident as he attempted to leave the premises, the source reported.

The self-storage manager was walking the property at 9033 Lyndale Ave. when she noticed a unit door that was missing a lock. When she opened it, the suspect pointed a gun at her. She returned to the office and called police. Using the facility’s video cameras, she was able to provide a description of the suspect as well as his current position on the site, according to Bloomington Police Cmdr. Mike Utecht.

Officers stopped a vehicle as it was leaving the storage property, questioned the driver and arrested him. A search warrant for the suspect’s unit uncovered a BB gun, Utecht said.

The suspect faces charges of second-degree assault, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and narcotics possession. He also had two outstanding warrants.

Based in Glendale, Calif., Public Storage has interests in 2,649 self-storage facilities in 39 states, with approximately 184 million net rentable square feet.
