Bainbridge Self Storage in Bainbridge, Wash., is hosting a canned-cat-food drive through Wednesday for the Kitsap Humane Society, an animal shelter that cares for and feeds 54 cats and kittens. The self-storage operator hopes to collect 3,000 cans, which is equal to six months of food.

In addition, anyone who drops off a case of canned food will be entered to win a sweet prize package, which includes a pound of Bon Bon brand fudge, a gift card to Mora Iced Creamery, two gourmet candy apples, and a gift card for two 20-ounce frozen hot chocolates from ChocMo Chocolate Bistro. Donations can be dropped off at the facility, 9300 Sportsman Club Road N.E.

This is the second year Bainbridge Self Storage has collected items for the shelter. Last year the self-storage operator collected food and supplies such as towels, blankets, kitty litter and kitten formula. Earlier this year, the company participated in a food drive to benefit Helpline House, which provides a number of services for community members.

The Kitsap Humane Society in Silverdale, Wash., is a nonprofit organization headed by a group of volunteers and funded through community donations. The organization serves homeless, lost and ill animals throughout the county.
