A request for a zoning-ordinance change to allow self-storage development in a residential estate district in Orwigsburg, Pa., has been scheduled for Sept. 4. The zoning applicant wants to build a storage facility next to a wastewater-treatment plant, according to borough manager Mike Lonergan.

The special zoning exception would primarily address three areas in the borough that cover a minimum of 1 acre. The properties are along Ridge Road, behind Seton Manor and between Grove Street and Faith Avenue, according to the source.

The boroughs zoning board must approve the exception, since self-storage is not permitted outright in the district. The council approved the hearing this week.
