The planning commission in Midland, Mich., unanimously approved the site plan for a 20,900-square-foot self-storage facility at its Jan. 28 board meeting. The 1.4-acre property at 1547 Washington St. is near the Midland Towne Center commercial plaza and Midland Fire Station No. 1. Developed by Rapanos Family LC, a privately held company in Naples, Fla., it will feature four buildings with a total of 166 units.

Brad Kaye, Midlands director of planning and community development, told the source the site plan calls for the construction of a board fence along the propertys north side. Trees will also be planted to act as a buffer between the facility and nearby residences.

The Midland City Council is expected to review the development request at its Feb. 10 meeting.
