UK Moving and Storage Operator Opens New Wales Facility

United Kingdom operator Fox Moving and Storage recently finished work on a new converted facility in the city center in Newport, a mid-size city in southern Wales. The facility covers three floors and 17,000 square feet with 120 units ranging from 15 to 200 square feet.

The family-owned company's managing director, Paul Fox, told the source the company had been looking to expand into Newport for some time. Fox secured the site in August and so far has invested £1 million (about $1.6 million) to strip the original structure back to its steel walls and rebuild it. The mayor of the city was on hand for the building's completion.

The £6 million-plus ($9.8 million-plus) business also has a presence outside Wales with offices in Bristol, Southampton and Stourbridge, supplemented by a franchise network of 14 agents. Fifty percent of company revenue comes from international moving. Fox's first moving and storage facility is located in Cardiff, Wales' capital and largest city, which is about 12 miles from Newport.
