Self-Storage Tenant Arrested for Multiple Unit Thefts at Dubuque, IA, Facility

Police arrested a self-storage tenant on Monday in connection with multiple break-ins at a self-storage facility in Dubuque, Iowa. The items stolen from Alt’s Mini Storage were estimated to be worth $10,000, according to the source.

The thefts at 10826 U.S. Route 52 were reported on June 17. According to investigators, Christopher Soppe, 46, accessed seven units by cutting through the interior walls from his rented space. A key to the lock for his unit was discovered inside one of the breached spaces. During their investigation, officers found stolen items in the suspect’s unit along with evidence of the path he used via the walls, the source reported.

Soppe faces charges of first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree theft, fourth-degree theft, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and several others.
