StoreLocal Partners With Janus to Offer Self-Storage Smart Lock to Members
June 27, 2018
StoreLocal, a cooperative created by independent self-storage operators to offer member benefits with economies of scale, has partnered with Janus International Group LLC to offer the SecurGuard Smart Entry System to its members. The partnership intends to provide a “more elegant and advanced security solution” by adding the electronic lock to the coop’s platform of technology products and services, according to a press release.
The entry system will be integrated with StoreLocal’s digital signage, new-tenant interface, and online search and rental platform, the release stated.
Janus recently partnered with smart-lock manufacturer Nokē Inc. to offer its wireless, cloud-based, digital-key management solution. SecurGuard allows self-storage managers to enter and monitor all access points of a property using a smartphone or tablet, while tenants can enter the facility as well as their individual units via mobile app.
“We’re very excited about the partnership with StoreLocal because they’re such a forward-thinking and innovative group of self-storage operators,” said Terry Bagley, president of the Janus Door Entry & Facility Automation Division. “They’re always looking to provide new solutions and better technology to their members, and they recognize that our smart-entry system allows them to do that in the access-control space.”
“This partnership allows us to not only bring a better access-control and smart-entry system to our members, but it also allows us to partner with the industry’s largest supplier of doors and hallways systems,” added Lance Watkins, StoreLocal CEO. “We’re thrilled about the partnership and the potential it has to add value for our members.”
StoreLocal leverages the combined strength of its membership for services such as customer acquisition, financing, marketing and technology. The coop also owns online self-storage directories StorageFront.com and SelfStorageHounds.com. Its total membership includes more than 1,100 self-storage facilities through 130 owner-member companies.
Headquartered in Temple, Ga., and founded in 2002, Janus is a global manufacturer and supplier of turnkey self-storage building solutions, including roll-up doors, hallway systems, mezzanines, security solutions and new technology. It operates 10 U.S. locations as well as manufacturing facilities in Europe and Mexico.
Janus was recently acquired by private investment firm Clearlake Capital Group LP, which has interests in the energy and industrial, food and consumer services, and software and technology sectors. The move is a part of a broad strategy to infuse Janus with resources to pursue product development and company growth, including acquisitions, according to company officials.
