Somersworth Storage of Somersworth, N.H., last week celebrated its recent expansion and 20th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Oct. 4 event was attended by the Greater Somersworth and Greater Dover Chambers of Commerce.

Owned by Rhonda Hallett-Pope, treasurer of the New Hampshire Self Storage Association (NHSSA), and her daughter, Caroline, the property at 240 Route 108 now includes a new three-story building with large windows, an elevator, a sprinkler system, and “a welcoming office for merchandise display and customer service,” according to the source. Originally constructed with all drive-up units, the facility now offers 700 spaces, 400 of which are climate-controlled.

Chamber membership has helped the business in important ways, including the opportunity to network and get involved in the community, said Hallet-Pope, who’s also served as treasurer and president of the Maine Self Storage Association. Her facility supports local events by donating funds and water bottles. Her staff also volunteers 20 hours per month for the local chamber, the NHSSA and End 68 Hours of Hunger, a nonprofit that provides programs to end childhood starvation.

Somersworth Storage also offers U-Haul truck rentals. Facility security features include keypad entry and video cameras.
