Self-Storage Data & Mapping Solutions (SSDMS), a cloud-based self-storage tracking service launched last year by marketing company Pac-Comm, has expanded its offering to cover all 33,000 U.S. ZIP codes. The service gives subscribers access to a database that tracks self-storage supply, facility openings, acquisitions and partnerships. The product additions are in response to overbuilding in some areas, along with the rise of development in secondary and tertiary markets, according to a press release.

SSDMS now provides data and mapping for every U.S. ZIP code and county and periodically identifies promising niche markets to subscribers based on its supply-and-demand analysis platform. Subscribers also receive a copy of the ZIP-code database in an Excel spreadsheet that shows data points for average home value, average household income, land area, population density and change, number of existing storage facilities or projects under construction, and more. Customers can use the spreadsheet to perform their own offline analysis and searches, the release stated.

The platform now also allows drive-time searches of five to 50 minutes within a specific location. The feature was added to help subscribers better understand areas “bounded or intersected by freeways, rivers [and] natural barriers that distort ‘as the crow flies,’” according to the release.

SSDMS is a division of McLean, Va.-based Pac-Comm, which specializes in “marketing-solution” programs as well as data processing, enhancement, hygiene and other data-related services.
