Northwest Self Storage to Convert Skating Rink in Hillsboro, OR

Northwest Self Storage, which operates more than 70 facilities in Oregon and Washington, plans to convert a former roller-skating rink in Hillsboro, Ore., to self-storage. The property at 4395 S.E. Witch Hazel Road was sold to Northwest’s parent company, Northwest Self Storage RV Hillsboro LLC, for $1.8 million in December, according to the Washington County Department of Assessment & Taxation.

Northwest Self Storage, which operates more than 70 facilities in Oregon and Washington, plans to convert a former roller-skating rink in Hillsboro, Ore., to self-storage. The property at 4395 S.E. Witch Hazel Road was sold to Northwest’s parent company, Northwest Self Storage RV Hillsboro LLC, for $1.8 million in December, according to the Washington County Department of Assessment & Taxation.

The building had been home to Skate World for 33 years before the business closed in June, the source reported. A few groups, such as roller-derby team Air Raid Roller Girls, continued to use the facility until November. Skate World was owned by DB Fite Properties Inc., a Sacramento, Calif.-based company, and a trust under the “Bill and Myrna Cook Family.”

Northwest Self Storage and sister company Kevin Howard Real Estate specialize in the self-storage industry in the Pacific Northwest. The family-owned and -operated company was founded by Kevin Howard more than 30 years ago. It specializes in self-storage consultation, brokerage, design and development, operation, and property management.
