Keep It Simple Storage Releases NFC Locks for Self-Storage Units
June 17, 2024
Update 6/17/24 – KISS has fully launched its NFC One Lock following last year’s pilot program. The product offers battery- and Bluetooth-free operation, and doesn’t require any hardwiring. Self-storage can complete a rollout of the smart-lock solution in less than half a day, a release stated.
One Lock leverages reverse energy-harvesting technology, with the user’s phone serving as the key to the unit. It works with self-storage facility-management software platforms including Sitelink, StorEdge and Space Manager. Integrations with additional programs are expected by the end of the year.
“Keep It Simple Storage is thrilled to introduce the NFC One Lock to the self-storage industry,” said company cofounder Mason Shaw. “With its innovative design and advanced features including digital reporting of open and close points, the NFC One Lock represents a significant leap forward in the self-storage security space. We’re confident that this ground-breaking solution will redefine industry standards and offer unparalleled peace of mind to storage facility operators and users alike.”

11/6/23 – Keep It Simple Storage (KISS), a provider of remote-management technology for the self-storage industry, is getting ready to release a new product in January that’ll help facility operators better secure their storage units. One Lock is an NFC (near-field communication) lock that functions via wireless technology, according to a company announcement.
The device enables self-storage tenants to open their units with via an NFC-enabled device such as a smartphone, though they’ll have to download the One Lock mobile app to do so. In addition, operators can remotely grant and revoke tenant access and view recorded access data. The system will automatically connect to each facility’s property-management software, the source reported.
Based in North Carolina, KISS also offers two-way smart video, a mobile app and a self-storage auto-attendant.
