Inside Self-Storage (ISS) and Live Oak Bank, which includes a self-storage lending division, have released “A Path to Self-Storage Ownership: A Lending Case Study of Mike Castleman, Owner of Castlerock Interests.” The free digital publication focuses on Castleman’s quest to secure funding for a self-storage project in Pflugerville, Texas.
The case study contains a timeline and overview of the lending process, including opportunity initiation, underwriting and the closing. It also contains insider advice for new storage owners and investors from an industry lender. The PDF can be downloaded from the Whitepapers page of the ISS Resource Center.
Founded in 2008, Live Oak originally focused on lending to veterinarians before expanding to other healthcare-related industries and specialty areas such as self-storage. The bank provides small-business loans for acquisitions, new construction, refinancing and other real estate loans.
For more than 25 years, ISS has provided informational resources for the self-storage industry. Its educational offerings include ISS magazine, the annual ISS World Expo, an extensive website, the ISS Store, and Self-Storage Talk, the industry’s largest online community.
