Inside Self-Storage (ISS) has launched a groundbreaking “2015 Self-Storage Manager-Compensation Survey” through which it is seeking authentic information regarding industry wages, salaries, bonuses and incentives. The anonymous questionnaire, intended for individuals who are responsible for the day-to-day management of a self-storage facility, focuses on topics including employee benefits, staff incentives, onsite housing, compensation and more.
Managers interested in participating can do so at www.insideselfstorage.com/survey. The results will be shared with ISS readers this fall.
The survey was first announced at the Inside Self-Storage World Expo in Las Vegas, April 6-9, where industry professionals J.B. Sills and Stephanie Tharpe presented a seminar titled, “An Open Discussion on Self-Storage Manager Compensation.” The session focused on the difference between rental commissions and salary, staff commissions for add-on services, the difference between resident and non-resident compensation, economic-occupancy rewards, employee benefits and more. ISS Editor Amy Campbell unveiled the survey to seminar attendees on the morning of April 8.
Sills is an operations consultant and Tharpe is vice president of operations and marketing for A+ Management Group LLC, based in Tennessee. A copy of their seminar is available for purchase via the ISS Store.
Self-storage operators are also discussing the survey in a thread on Self-Storage Talk (SST), the industry’s largest online community.
For nearly 25 years, ISS has provided informational resources for the self-storage industry. Its educational offerings include ISS magazine, the annual ISS Expo, an extensive website, SST and the ISS Store, an e-commerce website offering industry education and research products.
