Greenbox Self Storage recently opened its second facility in Denver, in the South Broadway area. The facility is comprised of 52,350 square feet of rentable storage space in 434 units, including workshop spaces of up to 2,000 square feet. In keeping with the companys environmental-design philosophy, the building features 175 rooftop solar panels projected to produce more than 107,000 kilowatt hours per year.
The company opened its first facility in January in Denvers River North district. That facility is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified from the U.S. Green Building Council, company officials said.
The new location at 1385 S. Santa Fe Drive features dedicated office space available to small businesses. Its upper level is leased primarily to Urban Lights, the citys largest lighting showroom. In addition, the building was designed with interconnected exterior and interior units, creating drive-up garage units with direct access to interior, climate-controlled spaces. Drive-in boat/RV units also are available. The facilitys loading docks will accommodate 18-wheel tractor-trailers, company officials said.
We are thrilled to be expanding into new areas of the city, said founder Bahman Shafa, who is also president of Focus Property Group, a Colorado-based real estate investment and development company. Denver continues to see huge residential growth year after year, with even more people choosing to live downtown. In addition to providing new, modern storage space for the growing urban population, our new locations will offer residents a sustainable storage option that supports Denvers emerging green economy.
The Santa Fe location opened on Aug. 23 and will serve the Platt Park, Baker, Golden Triangle, Lincoln Park, Wash Park and South Broadway neighborhoods. Greenbox has a third facility under development at 2424 Delgany St. that it expects to open in November. The Delgany property will also feature a sustainable design including energy-efficient insulation, recycled building materials and solar panels, according to a previous company press release.
