SecureSpace Self Storage Hires President of Operations

InSite Property Group, which operates the SecureSpace Self Storage brand, has hired Chris Runckel as president of operations. He has more than 30 years of experience in operations management, strategic planning, team leadership and business development, according to a press release.

Runckel will guide SecureSpace’s national expansion, with a plan to add more than 30 facilities to the company’s portfolio through acquisition and development. He’ll enhance existing scalable systems and processes, focus on long-term growth, and cultivate the company’s culture, the release stated.

Prior to joining SecureSpace, Runckel was chief operating officer for Andover Properties, which operates the Storage King USA brand. He led an expansion strategy that increased the company’s portfolio from 30 sites to more than 150 in two years. Runkel also held leadership positions with self-storage real estate investment trust Life Storage Inc. for more than a decade. While there, he served in executive marketing and operations roles and managed some of the company’s top-performing assets.
