Self-Storage Tenant-Protection Provider SafeLease Appoints Chief Revenue Officer

SafeLease, which provides a tenant-protection plan for self-storage operations, has appointed Nate Kinet as chief revenue officer (CRO). He’ll focus on revenue generation and new-client acquisition as well as strategic partnerships, sales operations and marketing, according to a press release.

Kinet has a track record of achieving maximum profitability for SaaS (software as a service) and insurance-technology companies. Since joining SafeLease, he’s overseen new partnerships across more than 300 self-storage facilities, resulting in 80,000 units under contract, the release stated.

“Nate brings a wealth of experience growing early-stage companies like SafeLease into profitability and well beyond,” said Steven Stein, company founder and CEO. “His focus on revenue generation and client acquisition, combined with our superior product offering, have catapulted our growth.”

Prior to joining SafeLease, Kinet was CRO for insurance-technology firm Sure, where he built the sales, partnerships, marketing and recruiting functions. During his tenure, the company more than doubled revenue year-over-year. Prior to Sure, he was the second U.S.-based employee at Trustpilot, which operates a consumer-review website. He helped scale that company in preparation for its initial public offering last year.

“I'm delighted to join SafeLease in the beginning days of the company's history,” Kinet said. “We've received an incredibly warm welcome from the self-storage community, in large part due to our unique business model that aligns the success of our customers with our own, a rarity in the commercial real estate industry. I'm looking forward to building on this early success as we continue to scale.”

SafeLease Tenant Protection works with most self-storage management software programs to automatically enroll eligible renters in a minimum-coverage protection plan at move-in. Customers with proof of insurance may opt out. Facility operators collect the revenue directly from tenants.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, SafeLease works with commercial real estate owners in the United States. It leverages technology and a partner-centric business model to create new revenue channels that maximize the value of commercial property assets.
