UK Self-Storage Operator Squab Storage Recognized for Charitable Work

Update 9/15/23 – The Squab team consisting of Carter, Kay and Sharp completed their 27-mile walk in support of Maggie’s on Aug. 13. They raised £2,666, just shy of their £3,000 goal. The charity supports individuals and families fighting cancer and is close to the hearts of the Squab senior management team, according to a new source.

7/31/23 – U.K. self-storage operator Squab Storage was recently honored as the “Business Community Champion 2023” for its charitable work by readers of Evesham Noticeboard, a community news and events website for residents and businesses in Evesham, England. Category winners in the “Love Evesham Awards” were selected via public vote, according to the source.

Readers chose Squab for devoting time and resources to several local charities including Caring Hands in the Vale, Evesham Adventure Playground, Evesham Bat Care, Evesham NCT (National Childbirth Trust) Baby Bundles, Friends of St. Richards Open Space and St Richard’s Hospice. Squab’s Evesham facility has also served as a drop-off site for charitable donations in several campaigns, the source reported.

“We love being part of the Evesham community and giving back to a whole range of charities, community groups and projects where we can; so, it is wonderful to receive such positive recognition,” said Kelsey Carter, facility manager of the Evesham location.

Carter, along with fellow facility managers Andrew Kay and Rob Sharp, will next raise money for Maggie’s, a network of centers that support individuals and families who are fighting cancer. On Aug. 13, the Squab team will walk from the Evesham facility to the company’s site in Leamington, England, a distance of 27 miles.

“I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m looking forward to taking on the 27-mile challenge with Rob and Andrew to raise as much money as possible for the charity,” Carter said.

A donation page for the “Managers for Maggie’s” fundraiser has been set up on JustGiving.com. Thus far, the group has raised £1,505 of its £3,000 goal.

Squab operates five locations in England. In addition to self-storage units, it offers flexible workspaces and various business amenities. It’s an affiliate of Squab Group, which also offers moving, shredding and truck-rental services.
