January 3, 2019
Absolute Storage Management (ASM), a self-storage owner and property-management firm, hired Amber Tyson as vice president of human resources (HR) in December. Tyson will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategy in support of ASM’s overall business plan and strategic direction. She’ll also lead initiatives that continue to improve the company culture, according to a press release, including talent management, organizational development and performance management. Finally, Tyson will continue to develop the policies and practices to align with ASM’s core values.
Tyson has more than 14 years of HR experience. Prior to joining ASM, she was an account executive at AlphaStaff, an HR outsourcing company.
ASM announced several leadership changes in 2018. In May, the company named Scott Beatty as CEO, Jennifer Barnett as chief operating officer and Matt Bailey as chief investment officer. Michael Haugh remained on as chairman, primarily seeking acquisition and development opportunities for the firm. These were the first executive-leadership changes in the company’s 16-year history. ASM then hired Cherry Blanton as chief financial officer in September.
Founded in 2002, ASM operates 116 properties in 14 states. Headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., it has regional offices in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Jackson, Miss.; and Nashville, Tenn.
