An employee found the body of a 62-year-old woman on Monday at Naylor Mill Self Storage in Salisbury, Md. The discovery was made during a routine property check at the facility at 2309 E. Naylor Mill Road. The site manager, who was planning to overlock a unit he believed to be abandoned, opened the door to find the woman as well as a sleeping bag and laundry basket, according to sources. He then called the police. It’s believed the woman may have been living in the space.

Although the investigation is ongoing, police don’t suspect anything suspicious in the woman’s death, according to Salisbury Police Department Capt. Rich Kaiser. “There was no forced entry into the storage units. There were no outside obvious signs of any kind of injury to her body at this time,” Kaiser said. “They looked at some video camera that they have up there as well. So, at this point in time, there is nothing suspicious.”

The body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. A name won’t be released until the next of kin is notified.

Naylor Mill Self Storage offers climate-controlled and drive-up units in nine sizes. Security measures include access control, perimeter fencing and security cameras.
