U.K.-based Simply Self Storage has received approval from city officials to convert the former AC Yule Group factory in Aberdeen, Scotland, to a 70,000-square-foot storage facility. The company currently operates a 75,000-square-foot facility on Mugiemoss Road in the city. Construction on the new facility on Craigshaw Road is expected to begin within weeks, according to the source.

Simply Self Storage will invest £2.8 million to transform the existing 25,000-square-foot structure in the West Tullos Industrial Estate. Once complete, the facility will include 650 storage units in a variety of sizes across a ground floor and two mezzanines. It’ll also feature 2,500 square feet of rentable office space, the source reported.

“We have had consistently high occupation at Mugiemoss Road since we launched in 2011, and feel the time is right to expand to a second site to cater to both domestic and commercial customers in the south of the city,” Kevin Shand, managing director, told the source. “This new facility will feature all of the top-of-the-range security features of our current site, such as individually alarmed rooms; PIN-code, 24-hour access; and 24-hour monitored CCTV to ensure our customers’ belongings remain safe and secure at all times.”

Simply Self Storage on Mugiemoss Road is open daily and offers business services as well as moving and packing supplies.
