Copper Storage Management (CSM), a third-party management company that specializes in automated self-storage operation, made two announcements this week. The company has named Jacob Copper as its new CEO. In addition, it’s collaborating with CallFinder, which provides call centers with speech-analytics software powered by artificial intelligence (AI), according to a press release.

Copper will replace Terry Campbell, who announced his retirement this week but will remain with the company as part owner and advisor. The transition will be effective Feb. 2, the release stated.

Most recently, Copper was a business-recruitment manager for Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, which supports state business growth, international trade and tourism. During his three years with the organization, he managed business-recruitment projects, and collaborated with internal and external economic-development allies to develop responses to requests for proposals, site visits and other client requests. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree from North Carolina State University.

“Copper Storage Management has achieved remarkable success under Terry's leadership, and I am honored to build upon that legacy as the new CEO,” Copper said. “I am excited to work with our exceptional team to drive the next phase of our growth, delivering innovative solutions and unparalleled service to our customers as we continue to elevate the standards of the industry.”

Campbell was named CEO in April 2022. During his tenure, he expanded the company’s products and services, built key industry relationships and helped grow its portfolio, the release stated.

“Although I have only been at Copper Storage Management for just under two years, I have been in the industry for over 29 years; and I have reached that next phase of life where I would like to slow down and enjoy some of the fruits of my labor and spend more time with the family,” Campbell said. “Jacob is a very intelligent, hard-working and dedicated person who I have full confidence in his ability to take CSM to the next level.”

CSM has also stated its intention to employ CallFinder software at its nationwide call center C3, which it launched last year. The service oversees unit reservations and rentals, payments, leads, and more for clients.

“The AI-powered software will automate our quality control-review process, allowing CSM to instantly analyze calls. We are expecting improved efficiency with a more proactive approach,” said Tana Bryant, CMS’s director of operations.

CSM remotely manages nearly 200 self-storage facilities nationwide. Additional services include collections, customer care, day-to-day bookkeeping, lien sales, marketing and more.
