Police Raid Storage Unit of Michael Jacksons Doctor

This week investigators raided a Houston self-storage unit belonging to Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist who attempted to revive Michael Jackson on the day he died. The issuance of search warrants for the storage unit as well as the doctor’s Houston office confirms that the inquiry into Jackson’s death has become a criminal investigation, according to an article in The New York Times.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Murray on suspicion of manslaughter. Upon searching the Armstrong Medical Clinic where Murray worked, investigators found receipts for a unit at Eighteenth Street Self Storage. Evidence collected at the unit included computer hard drives, CDs and documents, one of which is a medical-suspension notice from a local hospital.

The storage-facility manager’s husband, Charles Lyon, said in a phone interview with the Times that Murray rented the unit on April 1 under the name of Acres Home Heart Vascular Institute. When he and his wife were presented with the search warrant from Houston PD, he cut the lock on the unit so they could enter.

Murray worked in California, Nevada and Texas, and was one of several doctors interviewed in connection with Jackson’s death. He was recently hired by Jackson to attend to him during a 50-concert tour.
