As U.S. consumers grapple with unprecedented inflation and other economic challenges, some folks are struggling financially. They may have to make tough choices about which bills to pay or ignore, and self-storage rent can fall to the bottom of the priority list. As a result, industry operators are seeing an increase in tenant delinquency and spending more time chasing payments. However, there are effective ways to prevent customers from falling behind and even help them catch up when they do. In this video recorded at the 2022 Inside Self-Storage World Expo, Cassie Dodgen shares proven tactics to ease the pain of collecting debt and help managers protect their facility’s primary revenue stream.

Dodgen is president of operations for Pinnacle Storage Managers, the third-party management division of Pinnacle Storage Properties. Her 10 years of industry experience includes acquisitions, development, operations, multi-store leadership and maintaining excellent company culture. Her career has included manning a single site to running several multi-million-dollar businesses.
