3 Arrested for Burglary at Lincoln, NE, Self-Storage Facility

Three people were arrested for burglary this week at a self-storage facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. Police claim the suspects breached a unit at Sasquatch Self Storage by renting an adjacent space and removing a panel from the shared wall, according to sources.

Investigators were called to 201 Coddington Ave. on Monday afternoon after the tenant of the compromised unit reported that $1,500 worth of items had been stolen the previous night. Jeffrey Adams, 58, was identified as the renter of the neighboring unit, though Julie Rodgers, 39, also spent time there. A review of the facility’s security footage showed Rodgers arriving at the facility at 10 p.m. in a blue Ford Escape with a man later identified as Brandyn Tomes, 36.

Officers found Tomes at his home in Lincoln, along with the Ford Escape, which had been reported stolen on Dec. 25. Police also discovered some of the missing items from the storage unit in the car as well as methamphetamine and a homemade firework.

Rodgers was arrested at her home after she attempted to evade police by hiding in a sofa. Officers also found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, more of the suspected stolen items and a 9 mm handgun. They believe Adams stole the car from Omaha, Nebraska, and gave it to Rodgers and Tomes.

Rodgers and Tomes were arrested on charges of burglary, theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglar’s tools. Tomes also faces charges for the explosive device. Adams has been charged with receiving stolen goods and vehicle theft.

Sasquatch Self Storage also operates facilities at 2300 N.W. 9th St. and 9520 First St. in Lincoln.
