A new CubeSmart self-storage location will open in Chicago next month at 6000 W. Touhy Ave. Comprising 65,000 square feet in 981 units, the facility is near a commercial and retail corridor, according to SMP Advisors, which consulted on the project. Self-storage operator, third-party management company and real estate investment trust CubeSmart will manage the property on behalf of the undisclosed owner.

The property formerly housed Frozen Ropes of Chicago Inc., a baseball-training academy, which vacated the premises in 2012. Another company, Athletico Physical Therapy, will continue to be a tenant in the building.

“The property is located in an underserved market for self-storage and will be the highest quality and most prominently positioned facility in the area,” said Ian Burnstein, a principal of SPM. “The unparalleled traffic counts and visibility will be a tremendous advantage for our operations and customers.”
