Self-Storage Security Provider PTI Names New Managing Director

PTI Security Systems, a provider of access-control technologies for the self-storage industry, has promoted David Shaw from director of engineering to managing director, effective Dec. 1. He’ll replace Thomas Brooks, who’s held the position since January 2020, according to a press release.

“I am excited to watch David lead the business,” Brooks said. “He brings a wealth of business acumen, and hardware and software knowledge to the PTI team. His technical expertise and experience in leading global teams equips the business to move forward as a trusted security-solutions provider. It has been an honor to serve PTI and the self-storage industry for over six years, and it gives me great comfort knowing that David Shaw will lead the business into the future.”

Shaw joined PTI as director of engineering in January 2018. He’s credited with playing a key role in advancing the company’s cloud-based access-control solution, StorLogix Cloud, and has led initiatives to improve the technology behind the firm’s hardware and software offerings, the release stated.

Shaw has more than 20 years of executive experience in various engineering and information-technology roles. Prior to joining PTI, he was the head of solutions and systems for North America at Landis+Gyr, a global provider of advanced energy-management solutions to utility companies.

“I am honored to be selected as the next managing Director of PTI,” Shaw said. “Our team is committed to advancing the organization as we continue to invest in innovative technologies and work with our customers to ensure that our security solutions help them achieve their business objectives.”

PTI manufactures technology-enabled security solutions. Its product line includes access-control hardware and software, wired and wireless door alarms, and mobile-access solutions. The company has installed more than 40,000 systems in 30-plus countries.
