In response to a fire that recently destroyed the homes of 13 families in Danbury, Conn.―one of the city’s worst fires in seven years―Westy Storage Centers has donated six storage units to house the goods being collected by volunteers for the victims. The units are now filled with winter clothing, shoes, toys, books, blankets, non-perishable food, household items and furniture that are being distributed to families in need. Donations can still be dropped off at the facility on Kenosia Ave. in Danbury, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, the Westy Storage Center in Chatham, N.J., is collecting books for the annual book sale held by the College Club, the Summit branch of the American Association of University Women. Scheduled to take place at the American Legion Hall in New Providence, N.J., during April 22-25, the sale will raise scholarship funds for local college-bound girls. Books in good condition may be brought to the self-storage facility at 25 River Road seven days a week. Exclusions are textbooks, manuals, digests and encyclopedias. The book organizers have asked that donors use easy-to-lift boxes or bags when dropping off items.
