William Warren Group/StorQuest Self Storage District Manager Elected Chairman of New Canaan, NY, Parks and Rec

Rona Siegel, district manager for The William Warren Group (WWG), a privately held real estate company that operates the StorQuest Self Storage brand, was unanimously elected as chairman of the New Canaan, N.Y., Parks and Recreation Commission. She replaces Sally Campbell, who stepped down from the post, according to the source.

Siegel has lived in New Canaan in an 1870 farmhouse since 2003, according to a biography she submitted to the source. She volunteers at the public schools and libraries. Most recently, she helped the New Canaan High School Booster Club upgrade the interior of the sports concessions building.

Siegel has trained for marathons in the “beautiful parks throughout New Canaan, including Waveny’s newly renovated trails, Irwin’s running path and the various winding sidewalks,” she wrote. She credits her engineer father for her mastery of various construction skills, including welding, and the “innate ability to work with my hands.”

While living in St. Petersburg, Fla., Siegel organized the first neighborhood crime-watch program, which resulted in a 62 percent decline in crime in the area. She received a volunteerism award from former President Bill Clinton for her efforts.

At WWG, Siegel provides asset-management services for self-storage facilities in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. Previously, she was a property manager for CitySpire, the third-tallest mixed-use skyscraper in New York City, and a senior director of asset management for development and real estate firm Collins Enterprises LLC.  She also served as president of the Southern Connecticut chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association, and received its Pinnacle and Member of the Year awards.

Founded in 1994 and based in Santa Monica, Calif., WWG acquires, develops and operates more than 125 self-storage facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, South Carolina and Texas.
