Roadside Mural Added to Hendersonville, North Carolina, Self-Storage Building

An artist recently completed a 500-foot mural along the wall of a self-storage facility in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The painting at SafeNest Storage features 10 well-known mountain scenes from the region, according to artist Andrea Martin.

SafeNest recently converted the former World of Clothing building at 135 Sugarloaf Road to storage. The mural replaced the store’s name and can be seen from nearby Interstate 26. World of Clothing closed in 2021 after being in business for 44 years.

SafeNest’s owners suggested adding mountain scenes of Chimney Rock, Cold Mountain, Craggy Gardens, Jump off Rock, Looking Glass Rock, Max Patch, Mount Mitchell, Mount Pisgah and Waterrock Knob. “My goal is for families to go to the mural and pick a place they want to go hike for the day,” said Martin, who has completed more than 20 murals in the Southeast.

SafeNest operates a second facility at 12120 University City Blvd. in Harrisburg, North Carolina. Both locations offer climate-controlled, drive-up and vehicle storage.
