Despite your team’s best efforts to protect your self-storage facility from tenant-caused nicks, dings, dents and worse, damage is going to happen. Sometimes it can be mitigated or repaired, but it’s impossible to avoid altogether. Your tenants are often stressed and distracted when moving into or out of a storage unit, which means they may not be paying attention when driving their moving truck (maybe for the first time ever) or moving large items around. So, regardless of your bollards, quality building components, regular maintenance and other prevention tactics, accidents occur. And even though you have insurance to protect your business, it can be a drain on your time and resources. In this new thread on the Self-Storage Talk online community, a member describes a recent incident, sharing photos of the aftermath. Join fellow managers and owners in reading what happened, then add your own stories or advice.
