Extra Space Asia (ESA), a privately owned business that operates self-storage facilities across the Asian continent, recently participated in a two-month initiative to support local businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. During April and May, the company provided daily meals for residents of Sunlove Abode For Intellectually Infirmed Ltd., a charity home in Singapore for the intellectually disabled. The initiative was a collaboration with Latteria Mozzarella Bar, a local Italian restaurant, and independent nonprofit Food from The Heart, according to a press release.

During the effort, about 200 lunch boxes were provided daily to Sunlove. To date, ESA has contributed more than 10,750 meals and 2,900 homemade cookies to the home.

Group volunteering hasn’t been easy for most nonprofit organizations during COVID-19 due to the need for social distancing. As a result, ESA has had to adapt its corporate social-responsibility programs. Upcoming plans include diverse forms of corporate giving and community-centric initiatives that aim to make a positive impact on charitable causes in Singapore, the release stated.

Founded in 1986 by Wee Lin, Sunlove also provides a dementia daycare, senior-care center, home-help services, mobile clinic and caregiver training. Its mission is to offer its services to all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, social status and health.

ESA opened its first self-storage location in Singapore in 2007 and now operates more than 50 facilities across Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. Its portfolio comprises more than 1.5 million square feet of storage space.
