Advanced Self Storage in Vancouver, BC, Achieves Net-Zero Carbon Certification

Nicola Wealth Real Estate (NWRE) received certification from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) for the Advanced Self Storage facility it operates in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. The property at 11985 203rd St. has been recognized for adhering to the CaGBC’s zero-carbon building design and performance standards, according to a press release.

The company anticipates annual energy savings of $55,000 due to its conservation measures, which include:

  • All-electric systems

  • High-efficiency, air-source heat pumps

  • An 82.5% efficient energy-recovery ventilation system

  • Curtainwall glazing to minimize heat loss

  • Low-power LED lighting with occupancy controls

  • A mixed-air system with an economizer mode

  • 100 kW rooftop solar panels to eliminate natural-gas usage

  • Submetering installations for real-time monitoring of energy use
