Criminal Charges Expected Following Mexico, MO, Self-Storage Fire

Criminal charges are expected to be filed following a Nov. 8 fire at a self-storage facility in Mexico, Missouri. The inferno was ignited inside a single unit at Corner Storage before spreading and damaging 17 other spaces, according to sources.

The investigation is still ongoing. It hasn’t yet been determined if the 4 a.m. fire at 525 S. Clark St. was set intentionally or by accident. It’s also unknown if someone was living in the unit at the time. Once the investigation is complete, it’ll be forwarded to the Audrain County, Missouri, prosecuting attorney, the sources reported.

Opened in 1989, Corner Storage is owned by Betty and Ron Salmons. The couple also own the adjacent used-car dealership Car Corner.
