StorageX of Huntingdale, Victoria, Wins ‘Facility of the Year’ From Australia Self-Storage Association

StorageX, which operates a self-storage facility in Huntingdale, Victoria, received the 2023 “Facility of the Year” award from the Self Storage Association of Australia (SSAA). The company won in the 150- to 500-unit category, according to a press release.

StorageX at 1313-1315 North Road is family-owned and -operated. It opened after the pandemic decimated the family’s taxi business, P2P Transport Ltd., which had been listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. Within eight months of opening, the business reached 85% occupancy, the release stated.

“Amidst the uncertainty, we recognized an opportunity to make a difference in an industry where service, convenience and reliability are paramount,” said StorageX founder Harry Katsiabanis. “Our dedication has always been to our customers. From conceptualization to daily operations, delivering an exceptional experience has remained our guiding principle.”

The SSAA names winners in several self-storage award categories each year, generally announcing them at its annual conference and tradeshow. This year, a commemoration took place during the association event at Grand Hyatte Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, Nov. 14-16. “Awards for Excellence” were also given for “Best Facility Expansion or Upgrade,” “Manager of the Year” and “Service Member of the Year” as well as for community engagement, innovation and sustainability.

Founded in 1990, the SSAA supports self-storage professionals in Australia and New Zealand. It has more than 800 members.
