Southern Self Storage Locations to Host Back-to-School Drive

Southern Self Storage, which operates 50 facilities across six states and Puerto Rico, will host a back-to-school drive during July at select locations. This will be the third consecutive year the company has collected backpacks, notebooks, writing utensils and other items for students. Donations will be gifted to local schools and community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, according to a press release.

“Now more than ever, we need to invest in our children’s future, and a small way to do so is by simply giving them the tools they need to feel more prepared and confident going into the new school year,” said Tresha McMillan, director of marketing for Southern.

Last year, the company donated school supplies worth more than $1,150. The self-storage operator hopes to increase this year’s total by 50%, the release stated. Multiple locations will serve as collection points, including facilities in Edgewater and The Villages, Florida.

“I really enjoy our annual back-to-school drive,” said property manager Stacie Beaster, who also serves as district team lead. “The teachers are always so appreciative, and it feels great knowing we’re making a difference!” Beaster’s facility in Pearl River, Louisiana, will donate the items it collects to the Boys and Girls Club in Slidell, Louisiana.

Founded in 1985 and based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Southern has locations in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Puerto Rico. It’s a participating regional operator of National Storage Affiliates Trust, a self-administered, self-managed real estate investment trust, which operates 1,117 storage facilities in 42 states and Puerto Rico.
