SmartStop Self Storage Continues to Support Breast Cancer Research Foundation

UPDATE 10/7/24 – SmartStop is supporting BCRF during Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the seventh consecutive year. The company will donate $5 for every new unit rented in October at all its locations, according to a press release.
Since the beginning of this collaboration in 2018, SmartStop has donated more than $195,000 to BCRF initiatives in Canada and the United States. The contributions have been instrumental in advancing critical research through clinical trials, new equipment and research personnel, the release stated.
As the largest private funder of breast-cancer research globally, BCRF spearheads innovative initiatives, including studies on metastatic breast cancer. In 2024-25, it’ll allocate $70.3 million in grants to more than 260 scientists from academic and medical institutions worldwide.

Founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF provides critical funding for cancer research worldwide. To date, it has raised more than half a billion dollars.
SmartStop owns or manages 200 self-storage facilities comprising 16 million rentable square feet in 22 U.S. states. The company and its affiliates also own or manage 35 storage properties in Canada, totaling 3.2 million rentable square feet.

The company will donate $5 for every new rental made in October at all its locations, according to a press release.

“Throughout the month, staff at SmartStop facilities across the United States and Canada will wear special uniforms to celebrate BCRF and raise awareness with customers about this important cause,” Schwartz added. “In addition, SmartStop employees have received information highlighting BCRF's mission and notable accomplishments in the field of breast cancer research.”
SmartStop raised nearly $20,000 last year for BCRF, which supports 275 scientists across 15 countries. It’s the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world, the release stated.
