101 Mini Storage in Florence, Oregon, is among the local businesses that have partnered with the Oregon Coast Humane Society (OCHS) to give sheltered animals more public exposure as a way to increase adoptions. The self-storage business at 3340 Highway 101 hosts a dog three days per week and displays each canine’s personal biography on their office counter, according to the source.

The owner of the business previously volunteered at OCHS and offered to take in some of the larger dogs that would benefit from more exercise and socialization, the source reported.

Another local business, Florence Shipping Solutions, hosts a sheltered cat and has created a wall of fame displaying photos of all the cats that have been adopted while under its care. “It’s very important for the animals to get out in the public and be seen outside of the facility at the Humane Society, which is a great facility by the way,” a spokesperson for Florence told the source. “It's just a little bit more relaxing for them to see the animal in the general public.”

101 Mini Storage is open weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers units ranging from 25 to 450 square feet.
