Burlington Self Storage, which operates seven facilities in three states, is hosting a holiday drive to benefit the Mighty Meredith Project (MMP), which raises awareness of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and the impact of suffering a hidden illness. Donations of toys, gift cards and electronics can be made at the company’s facilities in Burlington and Wilmington, Mass., and Derry and Salem, N.H.

Meredith Casey suffered a TBI in 2015, at age 11, when she hit her head on a granite countertop. Though there was no bruising or external bleeding, she immediately suffered a concussion and headaches, and things quickly escalated. Four months later, it was discovered she had a blood clot in her brain.

Casey continues to face health issues but attempts to live a normal life as a student at North Reading High School in North Reading, Mass., according to the MMP website. She and her family founded the charity to support others like her.

Burlington’s efforts are part of MMP’s annual “Fill the Box” campaign, which collects toys and gift cards for Tufts Children’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, where Casey continues to receive care. “We hope you can participate and help promote kindness, especially to those who are fighting a battle you know nothing about,” BSS officials expressed in a press release.

MMP hosts several online and live donation drives throughout the year, and offers an annual scholarship to a North Reading High School graduate. Its message of kindness is the beacon of the organization, according to the website.

Founded in 1990, Burlington operates three facilities in Florida, and two each in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It offers drive-in buildings, climate-controlled and vehicle-storage spaces.
