John Gilliland, CEO of self-storage firm The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC), has received the “2024 Lifetime Achievement Award” from Vistage, a global CEO coaching and peer-advisory organization. It honors long-standing members with a track record of bold decisions benefiting the company, community and beyond, according to a press release.

Gilliland has propelled the growth of IREGC to more than 100 employees in his various companies that specialize in self-storage acquisitions, construction, development, insurance and property management. He was inducted into the inaugural class of the Pennsylvania Self Storage Hall of Fame in 2018 and the national Self Storage Association Hall of Fame in 2020.

Throughout his career, Gilliland has made philanthropic contributions supporting the greater York, Pennsylvania, community through the Gilliland Family Foundation. He also supports his wife’s charitable organization, Pink Power, which raises money for local breast-cancer patients.

“I am extremely honored to receive this recognition from Vistage,” Gilliland said. “This Lifetime Achievement Award is proof of the unwavering commitment, collective efforts and shared vision of every individual who has been on this journey alongside me since my ‘holy smokes’ moment of finding the self-storage industry in 1997,” Gilliland said. “Together, we have developed long-term relationships and remain committed to building a self-storage portfolio of 100 properties at home in Central Pennsylvania and across the country.”

Founded in 1998, IREGC develops, builds, acquires and operates more than 80 facilities across New England and the mid-Atlantic.
