Granger Development, which develops and acquires commercial real estate in several asset classes, received an award from the “Buffalo Business First” newspaper for its self-storage conversion project in Niagara Falls, New York. The award recognizes the best in construction, development and real estate projects in Western New York, according to a press release.

Granger won in the “Best of the Best in Real Estate, Construction, and Development – Renovation Category” for transforming a former K-Mart into a facility managed and branded as Life Storage. Constructed in 1967, the 102,200-square-foot building at 2590 Military Road had been vacant since 2017. Granger purchased the 10.8-acre site in April 2021 and completed the project in 2022. Designed by Kurmaskie & Associates, the $8.75 million facility offers 586 climate-controlled units and an air-conditioned drive-through for tenant loading and unloading.

In addition, the project included subdividing excess land into three outparcels. One has been sold to a regional car-wash operator, and the other two are under contract to national retailers.

Founded in 1999 and based in Pensacola, Florida, Granger specializes in the acquisition and development of commercial real estate including offices, residential, retail and self-storage facilities.
