CEO of Asia Self-Storage Operators Lock+Store, The Store House Awarded ‘Executive of the Year’

Helen Ng, CEO of Singapore-based General Storage Co. Pte. Ltd., which operates the Lock+Store and The Store House self-storage brands in Asia, has been honored as “Executive of the Year” in the “Building Services & Facilities” category by “Singapore Business Review” magazine. The annual awards recognize Singapore leaders for business success, employee engagement and COVID-management initiatives, according to a press release.

Among the achievements noted by the awards panel were Ng’s leadership role in helping to establish self-storage standards in Singapore and across the region as well as the creation of investment and growth opportunities for facility operators and her rise to prominence in a male-dominated industry, the release stated.

Ng is credited with becoming the first female CEO of a self-storage business in Singapore when she took over Lock+Store in November 2010. She also became deputy chair of the Self-Storage Association Asia in 2014 and was appointed chair of the organization in 2016.

Prior to her time with General Storage, Ng was part of the senior-management team at commercial real estate developer Ang Oon Hue Pte. Ltd., where she was in charge of business development, human resources and marketing. She’s also been a featured speaker at self-storage and business events including multiple talk series presented by Singapore Management University.

General Storage operates 16 self-storage locations under the Lock+Store brand in Malaysia and Singapore as well as four The Store House sites in Hong Kong. The organization also provides warehousing, offices and postal services.
