Storage Master LLC has acquired two buildings near General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee with plans to convert them to self-storage. The company purchased the 4.5-acre site from construction firm T&M Industries LLC for $1.7 million, according to the source.

Together, the buildings at 307 W. Layton Ave. comprise 82,000 square feet of space. Storage Master plans to build 1,000 to 1,200 storage units on the site.

The building south of Layton Avenue will be developed first, with an opening slated for spring 2018. Diamond Industries Inc., an affiliate of T&M, will lease the second building for five years until it relocates, said Storage Master Owner Alex Simic. Once that building is available, it will be converted to contain 200 to 400 storage units.

Storage Master will open its eighth storage facility this month at S30 W24720 Sunset Drive in Waukesha, Wis. The company also has properties in Caledonia, Franklin, Muskego, New Berlin and Racine, Wis.
