Self-storage developers Sallie Deen, Andy Freeman and Mike Thompson recently broke ground on Petra Storage Solutions in Opelika, Ala. A public ground-breaking event and media day, slated for Oct. 5 at 10 a.m., will include officials from the Auburn and Opelika Chambers of Commerce, according to the source. The facility is expected to open early next year.
The site at 500 N. 26th St. is just off Pepperell Parkway and adjacent to Tractor Supply Co., a retailer that offers agricultural and livestock supplies. The three-story facility will comprise more than 75,000 rentable square feet of climate-controlled space and offer two sizes of outdoor vehicle parking. It’ll also feature a business center with a conference room, 60-inch color monitor, free Wi-Fi and a coffee bar, and a retail center that sells moving and packing supplies.
The three partners will oversee the facility’s development, with Freeman serving as the project manager, the source reported. Universal Storage Group, an Atlanta-based self-storage management and training firm, provided consulting services and will manage the property once it opens.
