San Diego Self Storage is the title sponsor of the fifth annual Nativity Prep Academy Golf Classic. “A Day at Maderas Golf Club” will be held on Sept. 23. Proceeds from the event will benefit at-risk youth enrolled at the academy. Additional sponsorships are available.
A donation of $250 per person includes a round of golf, cart rental, a box lunch, a contest for prizes, a buffet dinner after the tournament, a raffle and silent/live auctions. Contests include “hole in one,” “longest drive” and “closest to the pin.” Non-golfing family and friends are invited to participate in the cocktail reception and dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m.
This is the second year that San Diego Self Storage has served as the event’s title sponsor. The sponsorship helps the academy raise approximately 20 percent to 25 percent of the school’s operational budget, according to storage-facility partner J. Terry Aston. Last year’s tournament raised $260,000.
"We have a very strong corporate philosophy of enhancing the communities we serve with our self storage facilities," Aston said. "We are particularly impressed with the school’s extended-day schedule, where children can remain on campus to get additional instruction and participate in athletic, artistic or computer-based activities."
Nativity Prep combats a 50 percent local high school dropout rate. Its model includes a 10-hour school day, summer school, small classes, family counseling and numerous field trips. In 2005, the school’s inaugural eighth-grade class had a 100 percent acceptance rate into top high schools; 85 percent earned scholarships to private high schools.
Founded in 1972, San Diego Self Storage is one of the largest self-storage providers in San Diego County, with a network of 18 local facilities and additional sites in Los Angles and Orange County.
