Kirksville, MO, Self-Storage Theft Leads to High-Speed Police Chase

Two thieves who were seen stealing from a self-storage unit in Kirksville, Missouri, on Tuesday led police on a high-speed chase that ended in another state. The suspects were arrested by an Iowa state trooper, according to sources.

Angelica Roland called police that morning after discovering that her unit at R&E Mini Storage had been breached. When she returned to 202 W. Brewington Ave. later in the afternoon, she saw two people removing items from another storage space and called police again.

“There was a white car with the doors wide open on another building, and it just seemed really odd,” Roland said. “So, I took pictures of them, and then as soon as I saw the guys come out of the unit, I called the police. And the guys left like there was no big issue. They just kind of went out of here not going very fast.”

Police began pursuing the suspects’ car along U.S. Route 63, but the driver refused to stop and began driving carelessly. As the vehicle headed north, the Missouri State Highway Patrol took over pursuit along adjacent access roads, then again on the highway. Traveling at speeds of 100 miles per hour, the driver crossed into Iowa, where a state trooper joined the chase and eventually persuaded the driver to pull over.

The names of the suspects haven’t been released but both are reportedly from Kirksville, the sources reported.
